Watch the MIT Climate Action Symposium: Economy-wide Deep Decarbonization

    Description

    The fourth of MIT’s six Climate Action Symposia, Economy-wide Deep Decarbonization: Beyond Electricity, was held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. Topics included:

    • pathways to scalable, affordable low- to no-carbon fuels;
    • the role of biofuels, hydrogen, and long-term energy storage; and
    • large-scale capture of carbon dioxide and gigaton-scale utilization.

    In Part 1, Symposium Chair Ernest Moniz introduces the event.

    In Part 2, Moniz moderates a panel on "electrification of transportation," with Yang Shao-Horn and John Wall.

    In Part 3, Moniz moderates a panel on "low-carbon fuels," with Kristala Prather and Francis O'Sullivan.

    In Part 4, Symposium Chair Kristala Prather moderates a panel on "large-scale carbon management and negative carbon," with Howard Herzog, Ruben Juanes, and Arun Majumdar.

    In Part 5, Susan Hockfield concludes the symposium on Economy-wide Deep Decarbonization.
